Gary Branch
Gary, IN
The Pangere Corporation was selected as general contractor along with its team of subcontractors for the build-out of the Centier Bank branch office located in the iconic downtown Gary State Bank building. The project paid tribute to architectural trends of the 1920’s and repurposed original building parts to preserve the historical nature of the building built in 1927.
The project was completed in 100 days. Pangere’s workforce self-performed all carpentry work including: structural framing, drywall, doors, frames and hardware, acoustical ceilings, casework and countertops.
Original doors from the building were reused as well as existing marble installed on the walls and front desk. A set of marble legs from the Gary State Bank’s original check stand was found and with a new top added is again being used as a check writing station.
The lobby ceiling was built with large crown moldings and lighting was installed to imitate the era of the building while boosting energy efficiency.
The front facade glazing was cleaned and restored to mimic the buildings original look and feel, while using more environmentally friendly modern materials.
