The Pangere Corporation was contracted to perform the structural design and construction of B. Coleman Aviation’s new aircraft center at the Gary-Chicago International Airport. The project included erection of a 180’ wide clear span aircraft hangar, a 120’ x 101’ open canopy for aircraft protection during inclement weather, and a connected office building. The design included structural steel work with two mezzanine levels in the hanger and the inclusion of a 150’ wide x 28’ high, six panel full floating group hangar door. The hangar was designed with a thermally efficient standing seam room system with 6” of insulation and 26 gauge ribbed wall panels.
The new, state of the art facility will provide Chicago and Northwest Indiana with charter services, private aircraft management, and full FBO services.
